New Name, New Podcast
New (Old) Name: Zappable.com
I created a blog in 2011 called Zappable and I decided to update this Substack to use the old name and URL, so instead of going to ageofai.substack.com, you can now just go to Zappable.com. This blog will still discuss AI-related topics, but may also cover other topics too. Everything relates to AI in some way anyways!
Substack’s “import posts” feature didn’t work so I’ll figure how I’ll share some of the old posts within the Substack. Meanwhile if you’re interested, you can view the old blog at zappable.blogspot.com.
New Podcast
I also started a podcast for Zappable, available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and Pocket Casts. The first episode is called “Computational Neuroscience, Connectomics, and Consciousness”:
In this inaugural episode, Ariel sits down with Toviah Moldwin, PhD, to explore computational neuroscience. They discuss the similarities and differences between how biological brains and current AI models function and learn. They tackle the question of brain efficiency, particularly in language acquisition, debating the roles of innate biological structures versus learning from data, comparing it to the vast data needs of AI models. Next, Toviah provides an introduction to the field of connectomics – the detailed mapping of neural connections, and also discusses the complexity of single neurons. Finally, they discuss the hard problem of consciousness: can science explain it and can AI attain it?
